Three Bible Verses

Here are three Bible verses I keeping coming back to in my walk with the Lord:

Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edge sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Matthew 23:37
“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing!”

Jeremiah 17:9
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick. Who can understand it?

Hebrews 4:12 has been especially important to me in teaching Sunday School. I feel like I remind my students every week that God’s Word is living and active; God’s Word is not stagnant or irrelevant, rather, God’s Word is valuable above all things and changes our hearts. I love the imagery in Matthew 23:37 of God gathering His people together under the protection of His care. Jeremiah 17:9 is always an excellent reminder. God never changes, but we do!
