Roots and Seeds
We have a beautiful little flower garden on the east side of our house. Over the years, we’ve tossed lots of different varieties of seeds into the dirt, hoping they would take root and grow into bright, happy plants adorning our yard through the spring and summer. Most of them do end up growing into flowers, but some get washed away by the rain or overshadowed by small trees. Every spring, I grab my shovel and try to dig up as many small trees as possible. Jesus Is the Answer…to Anxiety and Depression
Last Thursday, I spoke at our local college campus’s weekly Cru meeting as part of a series called “Jesus Is the Answer…” I felt so encouraged to see many students who love the Lord and desire to see His glory displayed on campus. I know sometimes people think younger generations are hopeless, but I saw abundant hope in this group of young people. What a blessing to see God at work! I Am for Peace, But They Are for War!
Right now, I’m reading through the book of Psalms and the book of Philippians (I like to read an Old Testament book and a New Testament book at the same time). Classical Conversations: Cycle 1, Week 20
This felt like a particularly fun week to me, I think because we did extra work in both music and science, two of my favorite subjects. In my class, we used songs to learn most of our New Grammar. I got out a poster I made earlier this year called the “Dynamic Cake,” which I used to demonstrate the different dynamics in music from pianissimo at the top (the smallest layer, or “quietest” layer) to fortissimo at the bottom (the biggest, or “loudest” layer). We practiced singing in different volumes for our Latin 3rd Declension Noun Endings. As a community, we studied Handel’s Water Music Suite during Fine Arts, and…
