The Whole Story
He shakes his garments loose, letting the wrinkles rise and fade, fulfilling plans he wisely made. When we reach the end,we’ll see the whole story, how all works for good to his glory. What may appear disjointedor slow to mature,in all and through all, will surely endure. His power remains certain, his love remains strong,a short time for him seems long. He dashes to pieces,he builds up great towers.Small are we to quibble over hours. He shakes his garments free, billowing down through time, writing, fulfilling, every storyline.

Classical Conversations: Cycle 2, Weeks 1-6
We had a great start to our Classical Conversations (CC) homeschool year! We continue to enjoy History and Timeline the most, probably because of the songs that go along with the History sentences and the Timeline cards. We spend time reading the back of any Timeline cards that interest Samuel. This quarter we read about Roman Dictator Julius Caesar and Jesus the Messiah. I like when we can tie in History, Timeline, and Geography together. I still like talking about Science the most with Samuel. (And my class on Community Days!) When we go outside to play, I try to answer his questions about nature with CC grammar. Sometimes I…

The Gentleness Pledge and Bible Verses
My kids sometimes need help being gentle with each other and with their neighbors. I didn’t understand how to act with gentleness as a child, either. I remember many fist-fights and wrestling matches with my little sister over toys and whatever else we thought to fight about. I still like physical activity, and learned as I grew older how to harness my physical energy into things like basketball, water skiing, weight lifting, and self-defense. God also gave me a fairly quick wit. He taught me over the years how to use this gift with gentleness in ways that honor Him, instead of for my own gain and pleasure at the…

Almost Authentic Fettuccine Alfredo
I haven’t posted a recipe on here in a while! I found this recipe after Brian and I watched a video from Epicurious (available here), which completely changed my thinking about how to make alfredo sauce. I never knew you could make alfredo sauce without using heavy cream, or some sort of flour-based mixture. I tried this recipe tonight, and we really enjoyed the results! If you’ve read any of my previous blog posts including recipes, you’ll know that I like to adapt recipes I find to the ingredients I like the best. I linked to the original recipe at the bottom of this post, and the following recipe shows…

Happy and Thankful
What makes you really happy? I once read an article by Randy Alcorn reminding readers that happiness is an attribute of God. God certainly isn’t happy when we sin, and He mourns with us as we face trials and suffering. God disciplines those He loves, which means that sometimes we feel uncomfortable as He reveals our sin to us and shows us how to live in a way that honors Him. God doesn’t desire our happiness above everything else, but He does desire that we always find joy in Him. And, we can always find joy in Him. He happily exists as the eternal Trinity in perfect community and love.…
