BIG News for My Family
We’re moving! Brian and I are excited to announce that we’ll be moving to the area I grew up in this fall. We’ll be close to my parents and my sister, my niece and her wonderful family, and closer to Brian’s family. We’re also building instead of buying! I never imagined we’d end up designing and building our very own home, but we found a lot we really like, and decided to go ahead and buy the land. We found our builder from looking at other newly-built homes in the area. Our land is around two and a half acres and mostly flat with a handful of trees on the…

Lupine and Sweet William
In clusters bright and pink,In clusters white and snowy,In clusters violet and variablePop flowers, fragrant and showy. From showers in the springTo bowers as they singOf newness, life, and beauty,Flowers possess a solemn duty: To show God’s love afreshWith no hint of bitterness,Or indignant lack of charm;A flower trusts God’s sovereign arm. It doesn’t shake or tremble,Except in winds or storms or rain. However it stays rooted firmly,And next year blooms again In clusters tall and slender,In clusters small and light,In violets, pinks, and snowy hues–Among the greens pop flowers bright.

A Musical Resource for Teaching Your Little Ones Their ABC Bible Verses
Before we started doing family worship on a regular basis, I used Susan Hunt’s amazing book My ABC Bible Verses: Hiding God’s Word in Little Hearts to teach Samuel and Ruthie about the Bible. For each letter of the alphabet, Susan Hunt includes a Bible verse beginning with that letter, a story about kids explaining the Bible verse (including practical applications for kids), and a “Let’s Talk” and “Let’s Pray” section. Samuel and Ruthie love the stories. The illustrations are cute, and having the Bible verses laid out in an easy-to-remember order is so helpful. To help us commit the Bible verses to memory, I put all of them to…

Ships Lost At Sea: Why Men and Women Need Each Other
As a summer Bible study, my sister and I are reading the book “Lost Women of the Bible” by Carolyn Custis James. As we read, we highlight, underline, or bracket the passages that stand out to us. Then, we answer the study questions after each chapter. We talk on the phone once a week to discuss what we learned, and any other random thoughts that come to us as we chat! In her book, Carolyn Custis James calls the relationship between men and women the “Blessed Alliance.” She says, The clear message of the Bible is that God intended for men and women to work together. God put an exclamation…
